About Me

Connection is my top value. This means that the quality of our relationship is extremely important to me. I assume by working with me you are committed to doing the work necessary to making the personal and/or professional changes you wish to see in your life. To do this work requires safety, courage, and trust. I will do my best to co-create safety and trust with you. However, you must make your own courage.

To create courage is simple but not easy. You must be willing to entertain courage’s fraternal twin: fear. They usually travel together but fear generally knocks on the door first. I will encourage, support, and celebrate your courage. I will remind you of it when fear comes knocking. To make any profound and lasting change, fear and courage must both be honored.

I do not work with anyone I cannot love. Thus, if we do work together, you can assume that I am totally on your side. I’m committed to your goals and dreams. I will do whatever I can to help you achieve them. Sometimes that means I will speak a truth that is hard to hear. Other times it means that I will help you hold your grief, disappointment, and other painful feelings. Of course, I will also celebrate you and share your joy, have fun, and laugh with you. In short, we will be humans together committed to learning about ourselves, each other, and the larger world.

Over the past 50 years I have devoted my adult life to deepening my understanding of my own psychological and social experiences and choices while also helping others to deepen their own personal growth and understanding. I know from my own decades of personal and professional growth knowing oneself and feeling self-efficacy are keys to creating one’s own sense of self-esteem and fulfillment as well as understanding others’ experiences in the world. To that end, I have explored numerous different educational paths in the areas of psychology, coaching, and spirituality. I bring all of this wisdom to my work with clients.

Theoretical Underpinnings:

  1. Co-Active Coaching
  2. Narrative Therapy
  3. Reframing/ Story Crafting
  4. Qigong/Somatic Therapy
  5. Trauma Theory
  6. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction/Meditation
  7. Internal Family Systems Therapy
  8. Various Teachers of Anti-Racism Work
  9. Emotionally Focused Therapy
  10. Object Relations Therapy
  11. Growth Edge Coaching (Adult Development)

Using all of the above lenses, I will provide a loving mirror so that you may reflect on your own personal and professional wisdom and apply that to achieving your own personal and professional success while also supporting that of your clients.

I’m also a firm believer in humor and fun. While I take our work very seriously, I know from my own experience of being both a client and a practitioner humor and fun are both motivational and a salve for when things get hard. Our willingness to laugh at ourselves (I can tell you many stories of my own foibles and laughable moments!) is both healing and creates connection with other people. None of us is perfect so we might as well celebrate our imperfections. Our ability to learn from them and use them well creates a sense of wholeness and realness that benefits us all.

What I want for you is to experience the magnificence of creating and living your own true stories. Our brains create stories 24/7 yet often our minds only see a part of the story, focusing only on one character’s experience or viewpoint. In our work together, we will explore stories from many different vantage points in order to create the stories that are the most helpful and potent for you and/or your clients.

Regardless of whether you want personal coaching or supervision, you are both the instrument and the player of your instrument. When your instrument is appropriately tuned and cared for, and you are the virtuoso playing your instrument, magic occurs! I can’t wait to co-create amazing music that fully sings the depth of your song and also moves others to find their own depths and music!
